A-25 Phoenix-class Battlecruiser

Blue Phantom ChroniclesCapital Ship - Battlecruiser

The A-25 Phoenix-Class Battlecruiser is a heavy warship, constructed in the late days of the Briceran monarchy and introduced into the UPMF Navy. With a length of almost 1,400 meters it is a stalwart standalone war machine that has proven its reliability in battle many times.

The Phoenix-class Cruiesrs's mid section houses a large hangar complex which can support up to 3 squadrons of starfighters.

The Phoenix's arsenal, while mainly designed for ship-to-ship combat, can yet provide decent cover against enemy fighter or bomber attacks.

Dev notes & Origins

The Phoenix Cruiser's design was one of the first non-Star Wars-themed Ships I designed for the Blue Phantom storyline. While its rough shape stood for a while, the final design was actually derived from a concept I had made for the SBC Warrior, which didn't make the final cut.

This ship will be receiving an HD overhaul, which also includes some tweaks to the ship's shape, especially with regards to the formerly rounded mid-section, which will in future be more angular to adhere to the Design language.

History & Involvement

The Phoenix-class Cruiser was introduced during the final stages of the Briceran-Torlacian Family Feud. The commission was given by Briceran Crown Prince Jarris Vaylon in anticipation of the final conflict, unbeknownst to his father.

A total of 4 were originally ordered and built, with at least 7 more following in the years since the Treaty of Hedrec and the Foundation of the United Planets' Alliance.

Glory (2523 - 2530)

Battlecruiser Glory entered service in 2523 as the flagship of the Briceran fleet until the launch of the SBC Warrior. Commanded by Ian Feldriggs, it was severely damaged during the Battle for Bricera and, deemed beyond repairs, was scheduled for deconstruction and salvage in 2530.

Majesty (2523  - ?)

Battlecruiser Majesty was put into service in 2523, as sister ship to the Briceran flagship Glory.

Guardian (2524 - ?)

Battlecruiser Guardian was constructed during the final years of the Hedrecian Feud, along with its sister ship the Crusader, and was put into service in 2524. After the UPMF siege over Cophuran and the defection of the SBC Warrior it became the new flagship of the UPMF's first fleet, commanded by Captain Niribeth Karner.

Crusader (2524 - ?)

The Crusader was put into service in 2524, alongside its sister-ship BC Guardian, and has been a stalwart cornerstone of the Briceran Fleet eversince

Knight (2527 - ?)

Put into Service in 2527, alongside its sister ships Valiance and Vigilance

A30/C Brigon (Carrier-Variant)

The Brigon-class Carrier is a heavy carrier in service to the Briceran Monarchy and later the United Planets. Derived from th A-25 Phoenix-class Battlecruiser, the two ships share many similarities, the Brigon's most distinctive difference are a series of large hangar bays along the ship's mid section.

HD Remake

Although the model already was by far more detailed than the initial sketches, looking at it fully textured I felt like there could be more of it, so I went ahead and fleshed out further details.

This ship may yet face a more substancial design change. First and most of all I'm thinking of alter the alignment of the wings. Right now they're pointing downward so the lower surface is plain while the upper surface is sloped down. I may change that so both sides are sloped at the same angle.

Next I am thinking of reshaping the midship section. With the exception to their fighters, Shicon Dynamics ships have always featured a certain angular, sort-of hexagonal shape. To keep within this design, I alter the shape of the armored sides to reflect this rather than being round.
